What Is Medication Management?

Medication management is a collaborative process to optimize your mental health treatment. Together, we carefully select and monitor medications tailored to address your unique needs so that we can find the right balance between effectively managing your symptoms and minimizing any unwanted side effects.

In addition to finding the right medication, we consider various factors affecting your well-being, including lab results and, when necessary, genetic testing. Alongside medication, our Nurse practitioner’s offer psychotherapy during your appointment to address underlying issues and teach coping strategies. We’ll also explore lifestyle changes like diet, exercise, sleep habits, and mind-body approaches to boost your mental wellness. Together, these strategies form a personalized treatment plan to help you feel your best.

We understand that starting a treatment that includes medication can be overwhelming. Our providers are here to listen to your concerns, educate you, and guide you through the process so that you stay informed every step of the way.

How Medication Management Can Help

We’ll look at your symptoms, medical history, and how you’ve responded to treatments before. By gaining a comprehensive understanding of your present symptoms and history, we can create a treatment plan involving lifestyle modifications, nutrition counseling, therapy, and medication that is specifically designed to address your concerns and improve your overall well-being.

Our team of experienced healthcare providers will carefully evaluate your symptoms and medical history to determine the most appropriate medications for you. We’ll work together to find the best fit, considering factors such as efficacy, potential side effects, and your personal preferences. In some cases your provider might recommend genetic testing through GeneSight.

Through regular check-ins and assessments, we’ll closely monitor your response to the medication, keeping a vigilant eye out for any changes or side effects and making adjustments as necessary to help you feel better.

Navigating medication can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. We’re here to provide you with the information, guidance, and support you need to feel confident and informed every step of the way.

By effectively managing your symptoms, medication with an integrative approach can make a profound difference in how you feel day-to-day, allowing you to engage more fully in the activities and relationships that bring you joy and fulfillment.

Your mental health is our priority.

Our Approach

How Medication Management Works

We complete an Intake

During our intake, we will complete a psychiatric evaluation with an integrative approach; reviewing past medical history, nutritional history, ordering labs, and looking at your current medication protocol.

We create a plan together using an integrative approach

We dive deep to understand your goals and create a plan that involves the right combination of medication, therapy, and lifestyle modifications designed specifically to improve your mental health outcomes.

We Offer Continued Support

Using a collaborative approach, we make adjustments to your treatment plan as needed, ensuring it evolves as you grow. We continue to assess and monitor symptoms, adjusting medications or lifestyle changes as needed to help you feel empowered and in control of your mental health.

Questions About Medication Management

If you are unsure if online appointments are right for you, we encourage you to schedule a consultation to ask any questions you may have.

Have more questions?

Every medication has a potential risk of side effects. When choosing to prescribe a medication, we will review the potential side effects with you and answer any questions that you have. We ensure that you feel that all of your questions are answered and that you feel confident in the chosen medication. We will also monitor you closely during the initiation and continuation of treatment for any side effects or unwanted physical or behavioral changes.

Using an integrative approach to medication management goes beyond just prescribing psychotropic medications. We will work together to try to get to the root of the problem and create a comprehensive treatment plan that incorporates medication, psychotherapy, lifestyle modifications targeting diet, exercise and sleep, and mind-body approaches.

It varies from person to person and depends on the type of medication and your individual response. Some medications may start working within a few days, while others may take several weeks to show noticeable effects. During your follow-up appointments, we’ll monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments to ensure you’re on the right track.

It’s important to follow the prescribed treatment plan and not stop taking the medication without consulting your healthcare provider. Suddenly stopping medication can lead to withdrawal symptoms or a return of symptoms. We’ll discuss your progress together and decide on the best course of action. If there are concerns about side effects or if you’re not experiencing the desired benefits, we can explore alternative options or adjust the treatment plan accordingly.

Yes, you can! During your initial visit, your nurse practitioner will review your concerns with your mental health and discuss possible treatments, which may include medication, therapy, nutrition counseling, and lifestyle modifications. You do not have to start a psychotropic medication to work with the psychiatric nurse practitioner.

If you are unsure if online appointments are right for you, we encourage you to schedule a consultation to ask any questions you may have.
